Critical Hit! Show Date Delayed

Hey everyone! Just so you all know, our show date for tonight (Wednesday, May 22nd) is going to have to be delayed a week. We were planning on pre-recording the episode before our vacation, but that didn’t quite work out, and we sure as heck were not going to record while in Disneyland!

You can expect us to air our next episode next week (May 29th) where we will be discussing Cryptic Studios: their games and their business model. Tune in then!

A quick note for clarification
I (this is Ariel behind the keyboard) mentioned how/why I began following Whitney on twitter and sometimes I’ll see people who post comments about something that I can identify with, and then twitter suggests other individuals like this person, and after looking at their tweets I begin following them too.  So it could have been one of those circumstances.

Critical Hit! – Episode 4 – Missing Worlds Media, in the Hotseat!

Play

ch_bigboxVery sorry for the delay in getting this podcast uploaded!  But here it is!

Last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to interview four developers from Missing Worlds Media.

Here’s a sample of some of the questions we asked them:

  • The game’s lore philosophy:  will it allow players to tell their own story, or is it more focused on the game’s lore?
  • Questions about the team’s unique development structure.
  • The tightrope walk to please City of Heroes fans vs. those who want a newer, fresher game.
  • Costumes, powers, and customization.
  • Grouping vs. soloing.
  • Technical specs and how that might impact the graphical fidelity and customization within the game.

… and a TON of listener questions!

Podcast downloads… so slow!

Hey evohnozsrvrcrasherybody,

I just wanted to put up a quick note to let you know that we are aware of the issues with the podcast download times being painfully slow.  We’re setting up a beefier host for the podcasts themselves and will move the podcasts to the new location shortly.

On the plus side, thank you!!  This is a really great “problem” to have – but I am sorry that it’s taking so darn long for the podcasts to get to you.

I will post when we have updated the location – stay tuned.

  • The increase in the accessibility and transparancy of EverQuest II’s lore, and whether that will continue to be a trend.

Game On taking a break

I’m not sure what to do really.  I only started this show last fall, but I’m already starting to get burnt out on it.  Maybe it is not being able to find a stable co-host, maybe it is just having been doing podcasting on and off for 13 years now, but I am just not getting the feeling I want from doing it.  I am going to take a break for a couple weeks and see if it renews my take on things.  In the least, I might bring back Incoming Transmission.  There has been a lot of people asking me to do that show again, though I’m not sure what day or time it would be at.

I want to thank those of you loyal listeners who show up in game and in the IRC every episode to be a part of the show.  Also, thanks to everyone who downloads the episodes.  You are the reason that we do these shows.
